So, basically, this thread is about things that you have bought, that you seem to get a lot of use out of. Which seem to make life better in some way.
(They don't even have to be expensive items)

Such as:
I found a single cup coffee maker for $8.00
This thing payed for itself almost immediately, since now I can have a cup of fresh brewed coffee, instead of drinking instant while I'm house sitting.

Spending a little more money for a laptop with a slightly spiffier processor and a touch screen has saved me a lot of time and helped preserve my sanity during long hours working on team projects and other educational things. I was originally planning to get one of the less expensive netbooks, but spending another $100 or so gave me a much more enjoyable experience.

Also, my signature black bag that I always take to class. That thing has a lot of miles on it.

dropping a little under a thousand for a new computer two years ago was a good idea. not only does it play games reasonably well, its speed helped me browse the internet for college papers better.

So what can be superior when compared with paying out half the price for brand name children?
wow, if brand name children are on sale, maybe i can stop buying all these cheap knockoff children

OK... even I'll admit that the Oakland Raiders' performance might be a valid reason to use the interesting words.

My 95 Toyota Corolla Dx (with milage of 95,000 miles when I bought it) for $1500. Not only I can get to places easily, it's totally worth it since everything works great in it.

Android developer license ($29) and Windows Phone developer license ($19). Not only I got more access to my devices, publishing apps to the store actually made me about $300 so far.
